MotoGP Argentina: ‘I want to scare him a bit’ - Rossi

Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi clashed twice with reigning MotoGP Marc Marquez in the closing stages of yesterday’s Argentine MotoGP before the Spaniard crashed out and lost a potential 20 points.

Rossi had elected to use the extra-hard rear tyre while the Repsol Honda man switched to the hard on the grid. Rossi hunted down his rival and said that he didn’t know he could beat him but trusted he could ruffle the youngster feathers.

“It was the right choice. I take the experience from last year and I think they key is we don’t care a lot about Marquez, we jut concentrate on us and use the tyre the permit to me get to race distance in less time,” said The Doctor, speaking in Argentina.

“When I start on the warm-up lap, I saw Marc with the hard tyre and I say I have to start well. I did a great start but in the first corner, Iannone push me on the outside but I try, I have a good pace. I think then I try for the second place but I feel good.

“Looks like our bike on this track is coming better lap by lap, when the rear start to slide. I look and Marquez at first was small like this and then get bigger and bigger, and I think I arrive exactly on the last lap.

“Is a shame that he crash but for me I think he did a mistake. Marc, for me, is someone who always bets all in, all or nothing. When I overtake, he touch me the first time and in acceleration I don’t understand which way he touch me another time and he crash.

“I have six tenths advantage when I arrive to him but only two laps, and I arrive very fast. I think he would try something for stay in front but he put the bike into me in the centre of the corner and I say ‘Fuck. I think you are aggressive but I didn’t expect so much.

“When I opened the throttle and accelerate, I feel another touch but I don’t know where.

“It could have been a good battle to the end but was a great race. I always trust that I could beat him or scare him a little bit. I have the pace, I know from the practice. It’s also extra motivation when you see the guy in front is in trouble. I never think I will win for sure, I just go. For me is ok to arrive second in this race but when Marc choose the hard, we know we have a chance.

“I am happy not just for the victory but we are competitive everywhere. we know we have to suffer in Austin, we suffer but we arrive third. It is important to demonstrate we can fight for the victory every weekend.
