MotoGP Le Mans: Flawless Moto2 win for Bagnaia

Sky VR46 moto2 star Pecco Bagnaia put in a flawless display to take victory today at Le Mans, extending his championship lead to 25 points over sixth-placed Miguel Oliveir.

The Italian, who will move into MotoGP next year with Pramac Ducati, was shadowed by the EG00 Kalex of Alex Marquez for the entire 25 laps but the Spaniard had nothing for Bagnaia and settled for the 20 points with two laps left when he began to suffer engine problems.

Reigning Moto3 champion Joan Mir passed Marcel Schrotter for his first podium finish to join Marquez on the rostrum while Xavier Vierge came from the back of the grid after a fuel pump issue to take fifth place.

Red Bull KTM's  Oliveira was sixth with Romano Fenati taking his first-ever Moto2 points in seventh place. Lorenzo Baldassarri loses his second place in the championship after a crash while Marquez leapfrogs the Italian for third.

Britain’s Sam Lowes had another tough encounter, dropping from seventh on the grid early doors to tenth and then slipping further back for three points in 13th place. Danny Kent ended in 21st place.
