MotoGP Le Mans: Kent falls foul of wet Moto3 qualifying

Britain’s Danny Kent will start from 30st on the Moto3 grid at tomorrow’s Le Mans MotoGP round after a heavy shower at the beginning of the session meant he wasn’t able to set a meaningful time.

Championship leader Kent wasn’t as fast out of the pitlane as poleman Fabio Quartararo and his team-mate Jorge Navarro, who both stuck in banker laps at the start of the session before rain began to fall. Kent finished the session in 31st but Karel Hanika starts from pitlane after his antics at Jerez.

But they both crashed out at the same time, coming into the 140mph right-hander at turn one, losing the front on lap three and sliding into the gravel. Neither was seriously hurt but Quartararo was nursing his right hand as marshals led him away.

Francesco Bagnaia bagged the final spot on the front row with Jakub Cornfeil, Romano Fenati and Jules Danilo on row two. John McPhee will start from 19th after a spill in free practice three.
