Pecco Bagnaia extended his lead atop the Moto2 World Championship with a dominant display at his home Grand Prix in Misano.

Starting from the pole position, the Italian got the whole shot and quickly starting pulling away from the field. Within three laps he was a couple of seconds clear of second placed Mattia Pasini. As the race went on, Bagnaia’s metronomic style helped him pull away and claim his sixth win of the season.

Behind the runaway leader, Miguel Oliveira fought through and worked his way up to second position with eight laps to go. Despite getting into second position, it wasn’t plain sailing for the Portguese as two laps later Marcel Schrotter followed him past Pasini and made the final three laps extremely tough for the KTM man.

Fortunately for his title chances, he managed to hold off the German on the final lap and claim an important 20 points to keep the gap at the top of the World Championship to just eight points. Despite not getting second, Schrotter was delighted to claim his first ever podium in his 105th race.

Mattia Pasini was fourth and was helped by Joan Mir needing to let him through for exceeding track limits. Despite Mir putting pressure on all the way to the line, the veteran Italian beat the MotoGP-bound Mir to fourth.

Lorenzo Baldassarri was sixth position after a weekend, which saw him, spend as much time in the gravel as much as on the track. Fabio Quartararo was seventh whilst Brad Binder, Jorge Navarro and Xavi Vierge rounded out the top ten.

Simone Corsi was eleventh just ahead of Remy Gardener whilst Domi Aegerter, Andrea Locatelli, and Jesko Raffin rounded out the points.

Romano Fenati was black flagged for a moment of sheer lunacy which saw him attempt to pull the brake lever of Stefano Manzi after the Forward rider had forced the pair wide a lap earlier.
