MotoGP Mugello: RC213V power still difficult to manage - Marquez

Marc Marquez remains frustrated by the troubles he is having with this year’s RC213V saying that the bike has more than enough power, he just can’t use it as the electronics aren’t able to manage it.

At the Le Mans MotoGP round, power had to be reduced to stop wheelies while so far at Mugello, the bike is unstable on corner exit, so power has had to be wound down but the former champion says the systems are getting better - just not fast enough, it would seem.

“The thing is, we are improving, so for that reason I cannot say anything as I saw that all the stuff is working at 100 per cent and is trying to be in the best level. They are working hard but in the end, is difficult when you change all these things to find a good level,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.

“Compared to the first race we improve a lot, but the other manufacturers improve so we are delayed but I hope that sooner or later we will arrive.

“We have the power but last year, for example, we were able to control it with our electronics. The bike was much more stable but now with these electronics we cannot manage the power. It is there but we cannot use for some reason.”

When asked today if the RC213V had got better or worse since he started riding it, Marquez wasn’t as politically correct as he usually is.

“From 2013 to 2014 was much better, 2014 we stayed there and we can say that in 2015 was worse in the beginning because I did a mistake and I choose the wrong chassis in Malaysia, and I change back to the standard chassis too late. Now I think it is better but difficult to say because we change the electronic, the engine and the tyres. The bike is same or better but the others improve a lot.

“Ducati have worked with something like these electronics for some time. We change in Valencia and we saw it was difficult to manage. Honda can be very big but the guy who makes the decision is one. We are working with this person and he is doing a great job.

“In Le Mans we cannot use the power because of the wheelie and we need to reduce the power. Here the biggest problem is stability in the exit and if we want this stability the electronic cannot fix, we have to reduce the power to be smoother.”
