MotoGP Phillip Island: Michelin ‘must improve grip’ - Lorenzo

Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo has said MotoGP spec-tyre supplier Michelin has to improve grip on front and rear compounds.

The former champion, who crashed out of the Motegi round, says the rubber doesn’t give enough warning when it is about to let go and it is his opinion there have been more crashes as a result.

“Michelin and Bridgestone are two different manufacturers, with two different philosophies. The pace is similar between them, but with the Michelins there are many more accidents,” said Lorenzo.

“They have to improve the grip of the rear tyre under acceleration, because it slides a lot, and also the front one.

“There’s a lot of crashes because of the tyres. They don’t give you any warning, and when you realise, you are already on the ground.”
