MotoGP Qatar: Best race ever, says Rossi

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi believes that his win in tonight’s Qatar MotoGP race was his best ever, even though he admits he has said it many times before.

The Doctor was involved in a tremendous scrap with Andrea Dovizioso for the win but pulled just a big enough gap in the final two corners to stop the Ducati man slipstreaming him to the line.

“I have said this a lot of times but this is the best, especially after the bad start. I recover a lot, we did a great job during the practice and my bike was fantastic. Step by step I arrive there, I try to don’t give up, the bike move everywhere but with the two Ducatis and Jorge it was difficult but in some places I was strong and good in the line,” said Rossi, speaking at Losail

“In the last three seasons I always rode solid races and arrived on the podium but to come back with a victory is another thing. I am so happy because we suffered a lot during the practices and also the tests, but we worked very well for the 22 laps race and I was very strong.

“First of all you have to be lucky, but especially the work that we do with the team during the weekend makes the difference for my pace in the race. It was definitely one of the best races of my career, considering where we were yesterday. I really have to thank all my team, my engineers and all at Yamaha because I think today we did something amazing.”
