MotoGP Qatar: ‘Bike will be good everywhere’ - Dovizioso

Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso admitted he just didn’t have enough to beat compatriot Valentino Rossi for the Qatar MotoGP win today and said he believes the GP15 will be good at every racetrack this year.

Dovizioso finished 0.174s behind Rossi after a titanic scrap for top spot and said that he has to remember the bike is new and they haven’t put many kilometres of development of it.

“Is really nice to come back and fight for the victory. It was really exciting for me to finish the race with Valentino and push 100 per cent in the overtaking. We made aggressive overtakes but in the safety way,” said Dovizioso, speaking at Qatar.

“I understood that in some places I couldn’t stay with him but in some places I could, in braking some places and in the straight, but I couldn’t make a better strategy.

“In the last lap I didn’t try to overtake again Valentino because the bike is really fast in the straight but I couldn’t exit turn one in front of him and I saw he had some good traction and couldn’t stay really close.

“I tried to make the last lap as fast as I could but it wasn’t enough. We don’t have to forgot the bike is new and to finish one tenth behind the leader is an amazing job.

“I believe this bike will be good in every track but still is too early to have the confirm about that because we really didn’t make too many kilometres on it and still there is some place we have to improve. We don’t know everything about it yet. I will go in Austin very confident we can make a good race.”
