MotoGP Silverstone: Kent considering two MotoGP deals

Britain’s Danny Kent is in no rush to sign a MotoGP deal and intends to consider the two offers he currently has as well as thinking about a Moto2 deal with his currnent Leopard squad on a Kalex.

Pramac Ducati made him an offer of a three-year deal at Brno - which it is thought he won’t take up - and rumour has it Honda have now weighed in with a two-year package for the youngster even before he has wrapped up his Moto3 title.

“I want to know by Misano but we are not going to rush. Of course it is a dream to go to MotoGP but we aren’t going to go there to sit at the back and wander around. I want to make sure it’s on a bike to show our potential and that there’s a path to the factory team and to win races,” said Kent, speaking at Silverstone.

“I don’t want to be at the back or mid-pack for the rest of my career. We want to take the right path. I had the Pramac contract on the table at Brno and could have signed it there and then but the offer they made wasn’t acceptable to me. I am not going to rush in, just to say I have ridden a MotoGP bike.

“We have got another offer but we need to sit down and to make sure of the package. That is what I am worried about. I wasn’t so keen on three years either because there will be some factory seats coming up. I am looking at two year contracts.

“We have a good offer from Leopard with a Kalex for Moto2 but the dream is MotoGP, Next year is the best time to step up.”
