Honda’s 2017 RC213V hasn’t cured the acceleration problems that have beset its riders all year but new champion Marc Marquez is hopeful that with electronics work, the issues could be finally laid to rest.

At today’s Valencia test, Marquez used a new spec of engine - which HRC boss Shuei Nakamoto refused to confirm or deny was big-bang - but he said there hasn’t been an immediate fix for the corner-exit grip woes suffered by all Honda men this year.

“At the moment, is the same, not big difference. Is a new bike, new engine but problem is no difference, we need to work more. Looks like for riding is a bit easier but we still need to adjust the electronics to this new engine as this is the most important as all the maps are made for the 2016 engine but we need to readjust everything,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.

“Looks like for riding a little bit easier. Easier when you open the gas and control with the thrott le.We try some different concepts on the bike to improve acceleration in the future and tomorrow we will try to work more on the details. For me was a long day, waiting in the box. The engineers made a big change for try to understand how is the direction we choose, so tomorrow will be the day to start to work on the grip and try to improve.”
