MotoGP Valencia test: Rins ruled out for a month after crash

Ecstar Suzuki’s Alex Rins has not had the best of starts to his MotoGP career. After the first day of testing he was enthusiastic and happy like a kid in a toys room. Like every rookie he said that he was impressed by the power, the electronics and the braking of his Suzuki. But unfortunately his learning process suffered came to a halt this morning with a crash at Turn 12.

Rins lost the front on the same corner where team-mate Andrea Iannone would crash a few laps later, prompting a stop to on-track action and a delegation of riders descending on Loris Capirossi to get some air-fencing installed instead of tyre wall.

The Spanish rider was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Valencia for further checks. He was conscious but was suffering from pain in his back. The scans revealed damage to the T8 and T12 vertebra. Doctors prescribed one month of rest so he will miss the Jerez test scheduled next week for the majority of the MotoGP teams.
