MXGP Redsand: Prado hunting for home victory

Spanish teenager Jorge Prado is going for victory at his home round of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Redsand this weekend.

The 17-year-old Red Bull KTM rider, second overall last time out in Valkenswaard, needs a win to get over his disappointment after losing to team-mate Pauls Jonass in the Dutch sand.

“I am still not sleeping right thinking about the victory that escaped me on Sunday,” he says. “I should have won in Valkenswaard. I was very close, I should have pushed harder – I was stronger and faster than him. I assure you that if I had another chance I would not let it go.”

Although he has contested European championship rounds in Spain, this will be the first home GP he has raced.

“I am very excited about this race, it’s something very special – I know that a lot of people will come and that I will have a lot of support on the track. I am really excited about it.

“I like Redsand very much because of the terrain and the lay-out and I think it suits me pretty well. It’s a track with many jumps in – it’s not easy to make big differences so we will have to push every lap.”

After a pre-season elbow injury interrupted his training, Jorge has wasted little time getting back into racing shape.

“The injury forced me to stop but we had already worked very hard on cardio so I recovered the form quickly. I have very good feelings and I am ready to fight to the fullest.”
