Natzke steps down from Buildbase Honda MXGB team

Buildbase Honda rider Josiah Natzke has stepped down from the team.

The 19-year-old has been struggling with the after-effects of a bad crash at the opening round of the EMX250 championship in Spain at the end of March and has decided to take time out from his UK commitments.

“The team have been very supportive since my crash,” he said. “It’s a tough decision for me and not something I have taken lightly. I would like to thank Willy and the rest of the Buildbase crew for all their hard work.”

“Josiah’s a great kid and a very talented rider and I really feel for him,” said team owner Dave Thorpe. “It was a big crash that has badly affected him, He’s going to take time out with our full support and as a team we wish him well.”

Josiah’s place will be taken by Josh Gilbert who steps up from the satellite Honda Adventure Centre team following a sensational start to the season that’s placed him second in the Maxxis ACU British MX2 Motocross Championship with two second overall finishes from three rounds.

For 20-year-old Josh it’s a case of business as usual as he continues to set career-best results this season.

“The plan is to keep going the way I’m going, stay focussed and keep getting the results,” said Gilbert. “The bike is the same and we’re all part of the same family so it’s not a massive change for me.”
