Norton’s new recruit David Johnson believes his steed for the Superbike and Senior races at this year’s Isle of Man TT will be calmer with new electronics controlling the 230bhp motor.
Johnson flew into the Island on Wednesday and went to Jurby for some shakedown laps on the Aprilia-engined bike alongside test rider Steve Plater and is confident he can produce some results after replacing Cameron Donald in the squad.
“Electronics are the big thing as it has got so much horsepower, probably more than every bike out there. It’s around 230bhp but I have done a few laps and it is useable now,” said Johnson, speaking at the launch event.
“Hopefully it can surprise a few people, but I am not going to predict anything. Just ride and see where we end up. I think the power was causing a lot of the chassis problems.”
