Ohlins increase support for national Superbike teams

Öhlins Racing is preparing for another busy year in terms of national Superbike racing, supporting teams in Championships as far flung as Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, UK and the USA.

Supporting teams from every corner of the globe through the Öhlins distributor network, 2015 will see the company challenge for top honours in prestigious national championships, including the MCE British Superbike Championship in the UK, the IDM Championship in Germany and the Italian CIV series.

These Championships are highly important to Öhlins in terms of teams utilising WSB and MotoGP developed product and crucially growing the massive amount of data amassed from the World’s racetracks. Many of the race series also have a high level of rider participation in support classes (such as Supersport and Superstock) utilising cartridge kits, an important market for suspension products.

Considered the most professional domestic motorcycle series in the world, Öhlins largest presence will once again be in the MCE British Superbike Championship, where they will be looking to add to their incredible tally of fifteen ‘BSB’ titles in just eighteen seasons. Supported teams include the all new Milwaukee Yamaha YZF-R1’s (Josh Brookes and former MotoGP rider Broc Parkes), JG Speedfit Kawasaki duo of James Ellison and James Westmoreland, the returning Honda UK team of Dan Linfoot, Jason O’Halloran and Jenny Tinmouth, the RAF Reserves BMW of Peter Hickman, Halsall Suzuki (Christian Iddon and Josh Waters) as well as WD40 Kawasaki with talented rookies Jack Kennedy and Taylor Mackenzie. The BSB paddock also sees the largest presence of Öhlins technicians and resources, led by newly appointed Race Manager Richard Brendish.

In the German IDM series, Öhlins will again be supporting the series with a major presence including a service truck, supporting the reigning IDM Champions; 3C Ducati, alongside MGM Yamaha, HPC-Powers Suzuki, Holzhauer Racing Promotion Honda and Team Van Zon Remeha BMW. The suspension brand will also be supporting teams in the Alpe-Adria series, French, Spanish and Italian Superbike Championships.

Öhlins Product Manager, Robert Brinkmark, said “Our presence in National Superbike Championships is at a very high level for 2015 as we look to strengthen our support for teams in all classes.

These diverse events and their different regulations give us an opportunity to expand our already extensive R&D knowledge to machinery and circuits not already on the MotoGP and World Superbike schedule.”
