Oulton BSB: Archer bags Motostar double

Jake Archer extended his Hel Performance British Motostar lead with two wins at Oulton Park, beatinga Storm Stacey and Jack Scott to take a perfect points haul.

Last year’s championship runner-up was the first into Old Hall when race one got underway, leading City Lifting/RS Racing KTM team-mate Scott and Storm Stacey as the Microlise Cresswell Racing Mahindras of Asher Durham and Brandon Paasch slotted into fourth and fifth.

Archer and Scott were wheel-to-wheel for nearly all of the first seven laps, but Scott made a mistake after briefly taking the lead and ran straight on at Hislop’s, which took him out of the fight for victory.

With seven seconds to spare at the flag, Archer took his second win of the season ahead of FPW Racing’s Stacey, who made a last-corner move on Durham to bag a runner-up finish.

Starting from pole in race two, the series leader fell back to third at the first corner as Scott nabbed the holeshot ahead of Stacey, with former British champ Ed Rendell in their wheel-tracks.

Rendell didn’t stay behind for long, however, as he took a deep lunge into Shell Oils and made the pass stick as he slotted into second behind Scott.

But Scott was soon out of the lead with a nearly identical mistake to yesterday’s as he ran straight on through the grass at Hislop’s, once again out of winning contention on the very first lap.

In a tight battle out front, Archer pipped Stacey over the line by a slim 0.044s to complete his weekend double, while Scott fought back to finish in the final rostrum spot.

Fenton Seabright took the Standard class win in 14th, from Scott Ogden and Thomas Strudwick.
