Oulton BSB: Buchan ruled out of races after suffering concussion after crash

Moto Rapido Ducati’s Danny Buchan will not take part in both MCE British Superbike races at Oulton Park today, after suffering concussion during a qualifying crash on Sunday, and has been ruled out of proceedings this afternoon.

The Essex rider was riding high in the opening qualifying outing but high-sided at Knickerbrook and knocked himself out and was feeling dizzy. He suffered brief memory loss after the incident, so he will miss the double-header at the Cheshire track.

His team have vowed to fight back at the next round at Brands Hatch, and have already been preparing his Panigale for round three, and working on the settings for the Indy circuit in a few weeks time.

“He had a high-side at Knickerbrook in Q1 but its a shame as we were pleased with how FP3 went and how we had the bike set for the wet, and we were looking forward to qualifying,” said Moto Rapido Ducati’s team boss Steve Moore, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“But he went over the handlebars and hit his head. He took a big smack to the chin bar and he hit his chin and it knocked him out. He was only out for a few seconds we understand, but the medical teams got hold of him and did the medical checks and sent him off to hospital. But with any head injury it is silly to even think about him going out and the medial team said he needs a few days off.

“He couldn’t really remember the crash very much so that is a sign that he has had a bang to the head. The guys are already for Brands and we have already put the Brands setting in [the bike] and we are all ready to go and we have a day here and the guys are already preparing the bike for him.”
