Oulton BSB: Haslam eyeing more wins after ‘tough’ Brands round

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam is looking to bounce back from what he considers a ‘disaster’ at Brands Hatch with more MCE British Superbike wins at Oulton Park this weekend.

Haslam bagged second and third places in Kent but it wasn’t good enough for the Derbyshire man who admitted the setup he was using wasn’t suitable and he had to over-ride the ZX-10RR just to get on the podium.

At the subsequent Oulton test, though, he was back at the top of the timesheets and says this weekend is looking pretty positive.

“Brands was a massive disaster hidden by a second place. We had quite a few problems, nothing with the bike or anyone but we really got it wrong. We knew that circuit was unique for setup and we never got it which was highlighted in the races,” said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com while assisting a Pirelli minion with some torn undercrackers.

“Our pace was OK, I could match people every so often but I was having to over-ride what we had instead of coming a bit more easily. We took our normal setup to test at Oulton and everything just worked again as it should.

“We learned a lot at Brands and that should help us on the normal tracks. Brands was tough but the test was positive, so it is all looking good.”

Haslam took four out of five wins at the Cheshire circuit last season while Shane Byrne didn't make it on to the podium at all. Click here for more facts and stats
