Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon will sit out the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship round at Oulton Park after a nasty crash in today’s final practice session.

The local man finished ninth in free practice one this morning, but went down at Britten’s chicane eight minutes into this afternoon’s session, causing it to be red-flagged for several minutes.

And although he was spotted up on his feet almost immediately, a trip to the medical centre uncovered a fracture to the hand, ruling him out of any further action this weekend.

But Iddon could be counting himself lucky as the series now heads into a six-week break to accommodate the Isle of Man TT, which may mean he’ll miss the least amount of action at BSB and give himself more time to heal.
