Double winner Jake Dixon has revealed the final five races of the season may not be as simple as his runaway victory this afternoon.

But with 14 points sliced off Leon Haslam’s championship lead, the RAF Regular and Reserves rider is hoping for more of the same in a fortnight at Assen.

Dixon started on pole for both of today’s 18-lappers and after beating early leader Tommy Bridewell to victory in the first scrap, he ran away with the second race win, despite late tyre woes which allowed Haslam to cut his six-second lead to just 1.1s at the flag.

While he says he and the Lee Hardy Racing squad still have work to do ahead of the battle in the Netherlands in two weeks, Dixon admitted he was nearly at a loss for words with his clean sweep and a new unofficial lap record.

“I can’t explain how happy I am and just how much excitement I have right now,” he said. “It’s just been awesome to take pole and the fastest ever lap on two wheels around Oulton Park plus the two wins.

“At times I just have to dig deep and with eight laps to go my tyre just fell to pieces. As you can see at the beginning I was so fast but I just didn’t have the tyre to continue all the way through. I wasn’t even spinning the tyre that much at the beginning.”

“If we can find those last eight laps and keep the tyre with me we’ll be really, really strong. We had really tricky conditions this weekend and it was easy to get caught out. We’ve got a little bit of work to do, but I’m happy with two wins.

“Like I’ve said before, Leon’s got all the pressure on him, I have no pressure. I can only go out and ride my bike as fast as I can. It’s not always going to be that easy, but we’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing.”
