Oulton BSB: Reid leads Supersport pack despite crash

Team Traction Control’s Andy Reid leads the Motorpoint British Supersport field into qualifying after setting the fastest lap in this morning’s first free practice session.

However, later in the afternoon, the Northern Irishman crashed unhurt in the wet second session.

In the earlier dry session, Reid ended only eight hundredths quicker than championship leader Luke Stapleford. Rounding out the provisional front row was Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Wilson was fourth quickest, just under four tenths behind the pace of Reid. Behind Wilson was the debut race winner from a fortnight ago, Kyle Ryde.

Ryde was three quarters of a second off of the pace in the first session but went on to top the second wet session. However, with the chequered flag out, the talented teen hit the deck at Hizzys.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin rounded out the first session sixth quickest and that was the last track action the Northern Irishman saw. He didn’t complete a lap in the miserable conditions of the second session.

Haribo Starmix Triumph’s Joe Collier was the fastest of the EVO machines and seventh overall ahead of Reid’s teammate James Rispoli.

Rounding out the top ten was Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb and Profile Triumph’s Sam Hornsey
