CAME Yamaha’s James Westmoreland claimed his first Dickies British Supersport pole of the year, mastering horrendous conditions to eventually take top spot by over a second.

Westmoreland sat on top of the time sheets all session long, with his advantage stretching out to two and a half seconds at one point during the session.

Closed down to just a quarter of a second with five minutes remaining, Westmoreland came back out on track and put in a 1’53.364 to make sure pole was his.

Astro-TT Kawasaki’s Matt Truelove came closest to the pole man, eventually ending 1.038 seconds adrift, but cemented his first Supersport front row.

Three tenths behind Truelove and rounding out the front row will be Acumen Triumph’s Luke Jones.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger was bumped off of the front row during the closing stages and will have to settle with fourth place and the second row, where he will be joined by class rookie Kiaran Hankin and Ross Twyman for the Sprint race later on this afternoon.

Tsingtao MV Agusta’s Jake Dixon recovered from a broken wrist last time out at Silverstone to qualify seventh. The Dover lad is still suffering, but thankfully the wet weather eased the pain.

Andrew Irwin slashed a massive three seconds off of his best time to jump from eighteenth to eighth with his final lap, meaning his Appleyard Macadam Yamaha will sit in the middle of the third row.

Yesterday’s pace setter Tarran Mackenzie ended up ninth, ahead of championship leader Andy Reid. The Silverstone race winner crashed out at Lodge with ten minutes to go and consequently dropped down the order and will front the fourth row of the grid.
