Pata Yamaha’s Alex Lowes has his sights firmly set on a podium in tomorrow’s second WorldSBK race at Phillip Island after only missing third place today by 0.032s.
The Derby-based youngster led the opener for a couple of laps at half distance but was just edged by former champion Tom Sykes at the flag.
“We’ve worked hard in the winter, especially at Phillip Island, as I did three race simulations before today and it shows because the last ten laps I was really strong. The team did a great job, I was missing in a couple of areas where I will try and improve tomorrow,” said Lowes, speaking at the track.
“Overall, it was fantastic to be racing those guys at the front. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to tomorrow. Everyone can improve and every race is different but I think I can get on the podium tomorrow. We will make some small adjustments and try but if not, another strong finish and move on to Thailand.”
