Qatar MotoGP test: ‘Unhappy’ Rossi looking for corner-entry feel

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi ended the opening day of MotoGP testing in Qatar more than eight-tenths off the pace of Andrea Dovizioso and is looking to make changes to give him better corner entry feel as is unable to ride at 100 per cent.

The Doctor, whose team-mate Maverick Vinales appears to be suffering no such woes in second, will look at bike balance and weight distribution on the factory M1 today in order to close the gap.

Today we worked on the feeling of the bike especially on the entry of the corner. We improved, but I’m not very happy. We are not at 100 per cent, because I didn’t have enough feeling to push on the entry, but today wasn’t so bad and we tried something quite interesting,” he said.

“We also had a bit of trouble with the front tyre life, the tyre is a bit too soft, so we have to work on the weight distribution. The condition of the track usually changes a lot here in Qatar, so we will try to continue our work tomorrow and try to make things better.”
