Red Bull Honda head honcho Marco Chini has said that Davide Giugliano impressed on his debut for the team at the Lausitzring WorldSBK test and that he should be considered for a seat alongside Stefan Bradl.
The Italian has been deputising for Bradl at the test as he was due to fly to Suzuka but an ear infection prevented his participation at the last minute.
Giugliano and test rider Michele Magnoni successfully tested new fairings and different electronic strategies, which have led to some improvements for the overall package with Giugliano setting a best lap of 1’39.5 compared to fastest man Jonathan Rea’s 1’36.6.
“I would like to thank Michele Magnoni and Davide Giugliano for their professionalism and their availability to help us with the development work. The team continues to develop the bike one small step at a time. We can verify that Davide Giugliano is back on good form and his vast experience with production-based motorcycles was really useful to get a better understanding of the current level of the team’s Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2,” said Chini.
“Davide surely deserves to be considered among the number of riders who could race alongside Stefan Bradl in the remaining rounds of the season.”
Which probably means he signed a deal this arvo when it was pissing down.
