R&G step up BSB support as pre-season testing begins

Official MCE British Superbike Crash Protection Supplier, R&G, unveil their most comprehensive package of race team support and sponsorship across the full spectrum of classes in the paddock.

Following their announcement as the official Crash Protection Supplier to this prestigious series, R&G are supporting a wide range of teams with products including engine case covers, rearsets, radiator guards plus full crash protection for frame, engine, swingarm, tank, bodywork, forks and handlebars. Attending every BSB round with a fully kitted paddock service centre to supply all riders and teams, R&G will also shortly unveil details of the R&G Newcomers Trophy, to reward class ‘rookies’.

With UK and foreign testing now underway, heading the impressive list of entrants is R&G sponsored Team WD-40 Kawasaki, who will be competing in the blue riband Superbike division with Jack Kennedy and Taylor Mackenzie plus the Superstock 600 series with Tarran Mackenzie and Joe Irving in their Stauff Connect Academy. Showing support to young riders, R&G will also be sponsoring Team WD40’s MiniMoto rider Josh Bannister.

R&G are also sponsoring the RAF Reserves BMW team in BSB with Peter Hickman, while further product support will be given to the Quattro Plant Kawasaki duo of Howie Mainwaring and Luke Mossey, Gearlink Kawasaki BSB with Joe Burns (BSB class) and in British Supersport with Glenn Irwin and Ben Wilson. The injured serviceman’s team True Heroes Racing will also be supported as they compete in the Ducati TriOptions Cup with Murray Hambro, Dave Mackay and Luke Smith.. The Hampshire-based company will also be supporting the inaugural Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup with RC390 riders receiving two sets of engine case covers, toe guards and a 50% discount on R&G products.

Speaking ahead of the team’s first test of the year, Brent Gladwin from Team WD40 said, “We’ve been sponsored by R&G since they began themselves, so I’m really pleased we can once again carry this over for 2015 – a season that is looking set to be our biggest yet. We both share the same ethos of wanting to help young riders and bring them through the ranks. Over the years we have together been able to develop a lot of parts and have used them across every class we’ve competed in. Outstanding crash protection is vital when racing motorcycles and the R&G products help to prevent major damage in most crashes, which allows us to quickly repair bikes ready for the next session.

“2015 is looking like it could be one of our most successful. The entire team is getting on really well already and we have a good pre-season testing schedule in place. We’ll be at Cartagena for five days, which will let the guys get their first taste of the 2015 machines and let the whole team get used to working together, before heading to Donington for the official test. I believe our Superstock 600 guys are capable of winning the title while our Superbike guys, although they’re rookies, are more than capable of regularly scoring points and can be challenging for the top ten later on in the year – no easy feat in what is possibly the strongest BSB line up in years.”

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added “It really is a big honour for us to be associated with the prestigious MCE British Superbike Championship. Racing is at the core of what we do at R&G and helps us to develop our product range even further, so to be associated with some of the top teams within the British paddock is fantastic. With the likes of Team WD40, RAF Reserves, Quattro Plant, and True Heroes Racing, we have riders capable of challenging for the BSB Showdown and Isle of Man TT podiums, through to true grassroots riders who are the future of British racing.

Demonstrating our commitment to UK racing, every ACU licence holder can enjoy discounts on R&G products, while I’m also very excited by our R&G Newcomers Trophy that we will be launching soon.”
