Cameron Fraser has been crowned the first ever Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup champion, at Silverstone.

Fraser, who began racing minimoto in 2011 came into the final British round, a race within a race as part of the first ever RC Cup World Final, with a 33-point lead over nearest rival, Chris Taylor.

With a generous points cushion, the youngster was playing a cautious game in the eight-lap encounter while Taylor went all-out for the win. Unfortunately Taylor crashed out on lap seven after clashing with another rider while battling for the lead of the race, immediately handing the championship to Fraser.

The 16-year-old student from Nottingham took the chequered flag in fourteenth but was classified as fourth of the British Championship riders. Fraser has been super consistent as well as fast all season, taking victory four times on his KTM RC 390, from fourteen visits to the podium across the 19 races held so far.

Along with the distinction of being classed British champion, Fraser also wins an expenses paid trip to the United States to race in the opening round of the 2016 MotoAmerica KTM RC 390 Cup.

“It feels so good to be British champion. It still doesn’t feel real. The race went ok, despite being one of my worst race results of the year. But I did what I had to do today and every race of this championship has been incredible with multi-bike battles for the lead,” said Fraser

“I also have to say commiserations to Chris. He’s pushed me hard all year and had some bad luck. He showed his talent today by getting to the front of the World’s best RC Cup riders. Now I can go out in tomorrow’s race a lot more relaxed and hopefully beat the rest of the world.”
