Tyco BMW’s Andy Reid is recovering in hospital after fracturing his femur. It happened during the second MCE British Superbike race at Silverstone when the Northern Irishman crashed whilst battling it out in the mid-pack.
The safety car was then deployed with six laps to go as the marshals attended to Reid at the scene. He was then taken by stretcher to the medical centre at the Northamptonshire circuit. After an x-ray the leg break was confirmed.
2017 is a rookie BSB season for the tattoo artist and this year was the first time that he has competed on-board a Superbike. He has been making steady progress on the S1000RR since the round at Snetterton and even bagged his first points at Cadwell Park. Reid joined the Tyco BMW outfit after Davide Giugliano departed the team earlier this year.
“Firstly our thoughts are with Andy Reid at the point. I must stay the lad has impressed every time he has ridden the Tyco BMW S1000RR and this weekend was no exception,” said team manager, Philip Neill.
