Silverstone BSB: Reid takes dominant Supersport pole

Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Andy Reid stormed to the first Dickies British Supersport pole of the year by one and a half seconds after an exciting half an hour session that threw up a handful of surprises.

With the track drying throughout the session everyone on the grid set their fastest lap on their last lap, making it a bit of a lottery.

Reid went quickest by some margin on his Kawasaki but a surprise second quickest was class rookie Ben Currie. The German born Australian, on Kyle Ryde’s former CF Motorsport Yamaha, jumped ahead of Gearlink Kawasaki’s Mason Law.

Team Traction Control Yamaha’s James Westmoreland will front the second row of the grid ahead Newman Racing’s Matt Paulo and Silicone Engineering’s Ben Stafford, who both enjoyed career best Supersport qualifying performances.

Stauff Connect Kawasaki’s Tarran Mackenzie got held up in the final sector meaning he had to settle with seventh place. Eighth on the grid for this afternoon’s sprint race is Andrew Irwin on his Appleyard Macadam Yamaha. Rounding out the third row is Tsingtao MV Agusta’s Jake Dixon.
