Snatching WSBK second from Sykes the target for Davies

Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies is aiming to snatch second place in the 2016 World Superbike points table away from Tom Sykes this weekend at the Qatar season finale even though he needs 19 more points than the Kawasaki man.

Davies has been on a roll in recent weeks, taking five out of six dry race wins and sees no reason why that can’t continue after getting his Panigale into a setup sweet spot and believes he could be helped by other riders in the mix.

“It’s the last race of the year, but in some ways I wish the season had just started, given that we obtained such good results lately. We were a bit late to the party, but we need to look forward. Last year, in Qatar, we managed to be quite competitive and took a second place, which was OK,” said Davies.

“We got more some horsepower now, which should help us in the long straight. Racing at night is always something different and fun. We need to bridge a 19-point gap from second place in the championship, and I believe there will be more riders in the mix. History shows anything can happen in racing, so why not? We can only do what we’ve been doing in the last few races, and then do the math.”
