Snetterton BSB: Easton remains in Showdown contention

PBM Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton has overcome his circuit demons at the Snetterton 300 track after bagging a total of nineteen points during the MCE British Superbike race weekend.

The Norfolk circuit is a bit of a ‘bogey’ track for the wee Scot, and even though he finished consistently inside the top ten in both races he still does not feel completely comfortable going around the circuit.

But Easton was able to remain firmly in Showdown contention and stays fourth overall in the standings, after finishing in seventh and sixth yesterday. But he is aware that he needs to remain consistent if he wants to stay inside the top six.

“I had a decent weekend and I was a bit worried at the start as this is my bogey circuit, but to get seventh and a sixth was a solid day for me. We came away with nineteen points and still fourth in the championship,” said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.

“I am still not confident at the track, and I had to grind a result out, as it was a tough weekend. My crew said I looked stiff on the bike and didn’t look comfortable – and I didn’t feel it either.

“So to get those results is a major positive. If you can soldier through the tough tracks and make the most of the better ones, then that’s what I want to do and guys like Jason O’Halloran had a good weekend, and took some points off me - but hopefully I can gain some back at my home track.

“[Consistency] is one hundred percent important, because if you look at the depth of the championship, and you look at guys who are in eighteenth place and then they can be tenths of a second quicker and can go up to sixth, and you can find yourself out of the points too – but consistency is what is needed in the championship.”
