Snetterton BSB: Positive race weekend for returning Linfoot

Honda’s Dan Linfoot made his return to racing during this weekend’s MCE British Superbike round at Snetterton, after breaking his wrist during a free practice session at Brands Hatch a few months ago.

The Northerner did return to action at the official test at the Norfolk track a few weeks ago, but this was the first time he completed two races since the opening round at Donington Park. Linfoot was able to rack up some solid points, with a confident fifth place finish in race one, and tenth in the final outing.

On Saturday he was able to take advantage of the mixed weather conditions to start race one from the front row, which put him in a good position to finish inside the top five. As he has missed two rounds he is down to eighth in the standings, but hasn’t given up the fight for the Showdown.

“I came here with a big question mark and I didn’t know how we were going to perform,” said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“I got lucky with the iffy conditions in qualifying and in race one I felt strong as I started at the front and had an OK race. In race two it was a lot faster and I rode better and I pushed through some demons in my head after my crash, but I got nailed by a few riders after the safety car, but I have got to be happy.”

Linfoot didn’t experience any pain with his wrist while he was on the bike, as he was concentrating on the race, but he did admit that it did start to throb after the double-hearer, Now he has promised to come back even stronger for the next round in Scotland.

“I need to get more points I am not here for eleventh, but I need to take those points as I have been laid up for two months. The wrist is OK; it was throbbing a bit after the race. On the bike it was not a problem as I was concentrating on the race.

“Now we are going to Knockhill where not many guys have tested – as here it was going to be difficult as there was a two day test, and it’s my first race back. Now I know I am able to ride - it’s just a case of getting going again.”
