Glenn Irwin – 1’46.876

Bradley Ray was back to his blistering best as he charged to pole at Snetterton.

The Buildbase Suzuki rider displaced Josh Brookes at the top of the timesheets as he powered home a hot lap of 1’46.632secs.

As the 10-minute session began, Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin once again threw down the gauntlet as he charged to the first 1’46 lap of the weekend on his first quick lap, as Jake Dixon jumped into second place with a lap just 0.030s behind.

But it was all change with under a minute to go, as McAMS Yamaha’s Josh Brookes went to the top after clocking a 1’46.768.

However, it wasn’t to last as Ray was just a few corners back on his quick lap, and he crossed the line to post the best lap of the weekend.

Irwin will round out the front row tomorrow, as RAF Regular and Reserves rider Dixon will head the second row, with Leon Haslam starting fifth and Honda’s Dan Linfoot sixth.

Haslam’s JG Speedfit Kawasaki team-mate Luke Mossey ended the day seventh fastest ahead of Danny Buchan and Michael Laverty.

Glenn Irwin – 1’47.243

Bradley Ray – 1’47.288

Leon Haslam – 1’47.303

With times instantly in the 1’47s this time out, it was a battle from the start to get up to the front, with several riders scrapping it out.

Dan Linfoot went straight up to p1 with a 1’47.576, but was soon dropped back to fifth as Danny Buchan, Luke Mossey, Bradley Ray and Glenn Irwin jumped ahead.

Irwin was holding the top spot with a 1’47.243 on his second lap, as Buchan, having just moved fourth, crashed out after losing the front before jumping back on his FS-3 Racing Kawasaki and returning to the pits.

With two minutes to go, Leon Haslam –who had yet to set a lap – moved into fourth position, while Michael Laverty was caught up in traffic a few moments later, messing up his fast lap and leaving him one last chance.

With Laverty notably angry as he gesticulated on track at Jake Dixon, his Tyco BMW team-mate Christian Iddon missed out on his final lap, but Laverty had a final charge and made it through to take a place in Q3 in eighth.

Glenn Irwin’s early lap remained the fastest at the flag, as younger brother and team-mate Andrew Irwin was among the riders who didn’t make the final cut.

The injured Jason O’Halloran was unlucky to miss out on a top eight, but his Honda Racing team-mate Dan Linfoot was successful, making it through with the ninth quickest lap.

Qualifying one

Leon Haslam – 1’47.612

Bradley Ray – 1’47.638

Luke Mossey – 1’47.646

Leon Haslam set the pace in the opening session as he set a quick lap early on.

The JG Speedfit rider hit the front almost immediately as he set the pace with a 1’48.048, leading his team-mate Luke Mossey briefly, until Bradley Ray jumped up to second moments later.

As the clock ticked by, there was little movement up at the top and instead all eyes were naturally on the scrap for survival.

Taylor MacKenzie had been lurking outside of the top 18 for most of the session, but managed to pull the pin with three minutes to go, powering his Moto Rapido Ducati up to eighth and in a safe position to get through to Q2.

Gino Rea, who had been lying 18th, was knocked out after the flag after Team WD-40’s Mason Law managed to stick in a lap good enough to jump into Q2, and Rea – despite being out on a final lap – wasn’t able to claw it back and was left languishing down in 20th.

Haslam, meanwhile, held onto the top spot throughout, eventually bettering his time to 1’47.612s as the times tumbled at the top.
