Snetterton BSB: Ryde grabs last lap Supersport pole

CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde snatched Motorpoint British Supersport in dramatic style, clawing back a tenth on his final lap.

The talented teen, who impressed the world’s media with his wildcard World Supersport podium at Donington Park a fortnight ago, was second behind Luke Stapleford with the chequered flag out.

Ryde had previously held pole by setting the fastest ever Supersport lap, before Stapleford then dived further into unknown territory with a 1’50.244.

Stapleford, the championship leader, looked to have secured pole position with Ryde a tenth outside of pole pace with the chequered flag out.

However, two superlative final sectors saw him clinch pole by 0.122 of a second and have his name in the history books as the fastest Supersport rider around Snetteron with a lap of 1’50.122.

Profile Triumph will line up second and third on the front row after Sam Hornsey held on to third place despite crashing out unhurt with five minutes remaining.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin will front the second row of the grid ahead of Floridian James Rispoli, aboard Ian Hutchinson’s TT winning Traction Control Yamaha, and fellow Gearlink rider, Luke Hedger.

The third Gearlink Kawasaki rider, Ben Wilson, didn’t have as much luck however. The Supersport bridesmaid will start the sprint race from the back of the grid after an electrical problem stopped him from posting a lap.

Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb will front the third row of the grid, closely followed by Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon and Traction Control Yamaha’s Andy Reid.
