Snetterton BSB: Stapleford holds off Ryde for Supersport win

Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford clinched his fourth Motorpoint British Supersport win of the year after fighting off Kyle Ryde on the final lap.

Stapleford had a comfortable lead of over half a second after setting a new lap record but the championship leader hit a false neutral at Agostinis allowing Ryde to retake the lead.

Stapleford dived back underneath Ryde for the lead at the first corner of Riches with the teenage talent still looking for a way back through.

The duo were as one down the Bentley Straight before Ryde moved to the inside in an attempt to steal victory from Stapleford.

But the diminutive rider aggressively slammed the door shut on Ryde and was able to hold on to the chequered flag by 0.096 of a second.

Stapleford now leads the title chase by six points from Ryde, who grabbed his sixth consecutive podium.

Traction Control Yamaha’s Andy Reid took third place after an epic battle with his teammate James Rispoli, with Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon and Profile Triumph’s Sam Hornsey crashing out of the fight.

Glenn Irwin came from the back of the grid to fifth place after crashing on his out lap, coming across the line 0.181 of a second clear of his teammate Luke Hedger.

Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb took seventh place ahead of the EVO duo of Marshall Neill and Joe Collier.

CDH Racing’s Dean Hipwell rounded out the top ten.
