Snetterton BSB: Stapleford tops Supersport practice

Profile Racing’s Luke Stapleford was the only rider to reach the dizzy heights of the 1’50 bracket during the Motorpoint British Supersport final free practice session at Snetterton this afternoon.

But the Sinope rider had his team-mate; Sam Hornsey and title rival Pacedayz Trackdays Kyle Ryde vying for the top spot on the timing-screens. Throughout the session the trio all managed to set super quick times but at the end of the thirty minute outing it was Stapleford who set the pace with a 1’50.677, going nearly half a second under Graeme Gowland’s lap record.

Ryde was on a hot lap and looked to better the time set by Stapleford but he ended up crashing at Agostini on his final rotation, but he was fortunately unhurt and had to settle for P2 on the sheets after a 1’51.057, followed by Hornsey who went two tenths slower, and completed the top three fastest times.

The Team Traction Control pairing of James Rispoli and Andy Reid rounded off the top five. The American rider had the slight edge but only by 0.06 seconds. Northern Irishman, Reid only completed a total of seven laps, after his session ended quite abruptly at Riches, but he was declared OK at the trackside.

Team Haribo Starmix’s Joe Collier was the fastest Evo bike and ended the day ninth fastest, with Smiths Racing’s Jake Dixon finishing the second free practice session, in tenth on the timing-screens.
