Snetterton BSB test: Brookes extends gap to a second

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes continues to set the pace on the second day of Snetterton MCE British Superbike testing, setting the fastest time of 1’47.119 in session two as he goes even further under his own existing lap record at the Norfolk track.

The Bringelly rider was almost a second quicker than nearest rival Shane Byrne, who didn’t crack the 1’48 barrier, and put in seven laps in the 1’47 bracket while testing rear tyre life using Pirelli’s SC0.

Byrne was run close by James Ellison’s JG Speedfit Kawasaki. The Kendal native set a 1’48.131 compared to Byrne’s 1’38.101 but Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran, who is testing clutches, was just 0.006s behind on a 1’48.137.

Lloyds British Moto Rapido’s Jakub Smrz weighed in with a 1’48.189 with his last lap to edge Stuart Easton into sixth place. The PBM Kawasaki man’s best was a 1’48.673 to finish just ahead of Danny Buchan’s Be Wiser Kawasaki.

Lee Jackson’s best of 1’48.819 was good enough for eighth with the Bennetts Suzuki riders of Josh Waters and Christian Iddon completing the top ten.
