Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty left the MCE British Superbike test on top of the timesheets yesterday after a change to the shock settings allowed him to find the mid-corner edge grip he has been looking for.
Laverty’s final run at the Norfolk track put him more than three-tenths ahead of second-placed man Luke Mossey using a setting the squad used with Ian Hutchinson at the Isle of Man TT.
“So far this year, a weak area has been stability on the side of the tyre and the team came up with a new shock setting for Hutchy at the TT and we tried that in the last two setting,” said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“I am pretty happy with it, it seems to have given us more edge grip in the middle of the corner. It is pretty good around here - a flat track - so we will see what it does at Knockhill which is pretty bumpy.”
