Snetterton BSB test: ‘Starting to feel like my bike’ - Parkes

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Broc Parkes has finally got to grips with his MCE British Superbike R1 after two days of testing, setting the fifth fastest time at Snetterton.

Parkes has struggled with tracks he doesn’t know and the switch from Bridgestone MotoGP tyres to the differently-constructed Pirelli-control items but got it together at the Norfolk track to end just over a second off team-mate Josh Brookes.

“It’s the first time this year it has felt like my bike. I just haven’t had any feeling with it for the first three round, a little bit at Brands but not like today,” said Parkes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“We have made quite a few changes these two days, it has been a good test as we had the new tank which I waited until today to test. My position on the bike is different now, I am quite a bit higher than before.

“This seemed to change the bike for me, it’s easier to ride and suits my style more. Basically, every track is new to me except the first round. Oulton Park was a disaster, I was really upset with my performance, so the last two or three weeks I have been trying to think of a way to fix myself to suit the bike but I feel today I have found the right direction.”
