Snetterton BSB: Vickers wins red-flagged Superstock 600 scrap

Unstoppable Ryan Vickers scorched to his fourth Superstock 600 win of the season, surviving the battle of attrition in which only two thirds of the field finished the race.

The Mototechniks Yamaha rider, who missed the fourth round supporting World Superbikes at Donington with a wildcard ride in the World Supersport ranks, extended his lead today and now sits on a perfect 100 points ahead of Aaron Clarke.

Vickers grabbed his trademark holeshot at the start of the 12-lap battle, but there were crashes from the very first corner as Zak Corderoy and Adam Hartgrove went down at Riches.

The championship leader, meanwhile, had pulled out a second after just two laps and over two seconds the next lap, before Cameron Fraser and Conor Thomson exited the race moments later.

But up in the podium fight, Joe Sheldon-Shaw went down on lap six along with Kaine Sheriff, prompting race officials to send out the safety car as the pack bunched up.

When the car came in at the start of lap nine, Vickers and Aaron Clarke escaped together. And despite putting up a short fight, Draper Racing’s Clarke couldn’t keep touch and Vickers continued his perfect run of form with his fourth win from four race starts as Aaron Clifford bagged third.
