Derek Sheils qualified on pole for tomorrow’ss Tandragee 100 Superbike Race as Honda’s Guy Martin made his return to road racing as he builds up to the Isle of Man TT
Sheils on his Burrows Engineering Cookstown Suzuki set the pace with a 106.439mph lap, four seconds ahead of a shock return for William Dunlop, making his debut on a Mar-Train Superstock R1 borrowed from the now-retired team.
Mulingar’s Derek McGee was close behind for third, only three-tenths of a second slower. Martin finished 17th quickest on the Honda Racing SP2 Superstocker with a lap of 98.612mph.
Dunlop was fastest in the Supersport class ahead of McGee, Michael Sweeney, Sheils and Paul Jordan while McGee topped the Supertwins class ahead of Shaun Anderson, Adam McLean and Rhys Hardisty.
