Thruxton BSB: Bridewell finds a second with ‘small change’

Bennetts Suzuki’s Tommy Bridewell found a second a lap in today’s MCE British Superbike qualifying session at Thruxton but also ‘rode my nuts off’ to bag a front-row slot next to poleman Shane Byrne for tomorow’s opening race.

Bridewell has a new swingarm this weekend which he says is making a difference to the ageing GSX-R1000 and he was able to get right to the sharp end when it mattered at his home circuit.

“The bike's working really well. We've tried a few things this weekend, including a new swingarm, which is working really well. It takes me a bit of time to get going around here. I like the circuit but it's bitten me a few times over the years,” said Bridewell.

“But I'm feeling comfortable. Qualifying was good. We made a change for Q2 and found another second right away, and it's good to be on the front row. We spent practice also working on our tyres. It's going to be interesting to see how they hold up around here. It's a long race, but we're feeling good."
