Thruxton BSB: Mossey keen to show 'full potential' on zero tyre

Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey went P2 on the timing screens during the second MCE British Superbike free practice session at Thruxton this afternoon, but he felt that he could have got more out of the Pirelli zero tyre compound, and the potential to go even faster than his 1’15.169 lap.

Mossey’s crew put in a fresh soft tyre with ten minutes of the session remaining, but he experienced chatter on his ZX-10R and had to come in, and when he went back out on track he had already done five laps  and felt he did not get the best out of the tyre.

Mossey believes Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne is the one to beat over the weekend, and is confident that he has more to give but was slightly disappointed as he felt he did not show his full potential during the second free practice session.

“We put a new zero in for the last ten minutes and we had chatter issues and when I was on my fast lap we had to scrap it and come in and change the front discs, so we already used the best out of the zero which was a little bit disappointing,” said Mossey speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“But then we went out again and we had done five laps on the zero so it was passed its best but we still did a 15.1 so I was pretty happy. I think Shakey is going to be hard to beat this weekend but we had more pace and we didn’t show out full potential so we have still got more in the bag and we are looking good for tomorrow.”
