Thruxton BSB: Podium the aim for Jackson this weekend

Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson ended the opening day of the MCE British Superbike weekend at Thruxton third fastest on the timesheets, during the second timed session this afternoon.

The 20-year-old lapped a quick 1’15.382 and to be up the sharp end and at a track he enjoys, the Lincolnshire racer is aiming for his maiden BSB podium, and if he doesn’t achieve that his goal is a place inside the top five.

His crew made some changes to the front end of the S1000RR and it definitely benefitted the rider, but Jackson believes he can go even quicker during FP3 and qualifying tomorrow.

“This has been one of my favourite tracks and coming here has been really good. We had a good first session and made a few changes for session two, and things are going in the right direction,” said Jackson, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“I have been there or there a bouts but not been getting the end result and it has been quite frustrating, so hopefully this weekend we can get two top eight results and I want to get my first podium and hopefully I can do that.

“We made some changes on the front end during the session and everything worked well and we got held up a bit towards the end of the session and my ideal time was slightly faster but we will try tomorrow. I have not had a podium in BSB and that is my goal and if we can't make the podium then top five is where I want to be.”
