Smiths BMW’s David Johnson has been kicked out of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class this weekend after he was found to be using a trick ECU following his second qualifying session.

The Aussie had secured fifth on the grid for tomorrow’s race but following the second qualifying, the Chief Technical Officer reported that his Smiths BMW machine had no ECU seals and was not as homologated, contrary to Superstock Technical Regulations.

Following this, Race Direction decided to exclude him from the meeting, meaning his preparation for next week’s Ulster Grand Prix have been cut short.
