Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Andy Reid secured a career first Dickies British Supersport double and the first 50 point weekend of the year, after another impressive performance at Thruxton.

The Northern Irishman took the chequered flag half a second clear in Saturday’s sprint race and in very similar circumstances on Sunday, Reid broke clear in the closing stages to take the victory two tenths clear of FAB-Racing’s Brad Ray.

He was forced to work hard for the win however, with a four man breakaway all getting their chance to lead the race. Reid and Ray had their fair share at the front, with Gearlink Kawasaki’s Mason Law and WD40 Kawasaki’s Tarran Mackenzie also leading the way throughout the 16 lap encounter.

As the quartet took the chequered flag, Reid was able to complete an emotional double win, one which he dedicated to his father who passed away four years ago to the day on Sunday.

Ray took a career best second place before Mackenzie came across the line joint third with Mason Law. However, after the usual post race technical inspections, both Law and his Gearlink Kawasaki teammate, Andrew Irwin, were disqualified and excluded for failing said inspections.

Law’s exclusion allowed Came BPT Yamaha’s James Westmoreland to jump up to fourth in the official results, meaning Mackenzie now holds a slender one point advantage over both Westmoreland and Reid as the pack head to Brands Hatch in a fortnight.

CF Motorsport’s Ben Currie ended up in fifth place after fighting off the close attention of David Allingham and South African Bjorn Estment, who enjoyed his best ride of the year to take seventh.

Rounding out the top ten were Joe Francis, Matt Truelove and EHA Yamaha’s Sam Wilford.
