Tsingtao MV in hunt for rider after Jones injury

Tsingtao MV Agusta team boss Dave Tyson is on the hunt for a rider to join his Motorpoint British Supersport squad after Luke Jones recieved a serious hand injury at Brands Hatch.

Jones crashed in free practice one and got his right hand stuck under the bike which has necessitated an operation today to try and repair two worn tendons which also has meant a skin graft on his knuckles. Jones is hoping to be back in action for the last two rounds of the season.

“Luke has had his surgery and it all went well but he is out now until the last two rounds, we think, so I need to find someone of at least his talent to replace him for the interim,” said Tyson, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“It’s a tough situation because Luke had got to grips with bike and was making progress. Also, finding someone at this late stage of a season who is good enough is going to be difficult, so we are looking so far outside of the box we can’t see the box.”

Jones has moved from the Evo to the main championship with upgraded engines, gearbox, clutch and changed the electronics to Motec.
