Australian Dave Johnson was satisfied enough with seventh place for the Norton in the RST Superbike race but says that he and the team will be working hard, and testing on Wednesday at Jurby to make changes ahead of the Senior TT in which he is looking for better things despite setting a 130.872mph final lap.

“I am really happy with the result – really we had no idea what to expect as we had only completed five practice laps but straightaway the bike felt good on the laps that we did. We took off from the start, the first lap was at 129mph,” he told BSN.

“There was a gap because of a non-starter between myself on Lee Johnston so I was by myself for three, maybe four laps and then I did some hard yards to catch him but then that made him pull his game up.

“I didn’t have a lap board but I saw Lee’s and was reading it, saying he was tenth, and +0 so I knew that he would be pushing hard to I rode with him and an the last lap we took each other several times and I came in seventh.

“I didn’t know at the time where I had finished but I was six seconds up on Bruce Anstey, not a lot around here, but good enough.
“We have a few things to change, we found out where we were a bit lacking and now have a test planned for Wednesday – the work doesn’t stop and the bike is going well.

“The Senior is the big one – we are pushing on well, it all feels good, a bit unexpected to be so high up but now we have to capitalise on this result.”
