TT 2016: Lintin makes it two Lightweight TT wins on the bounce

Ivan Lintin provided an action replay of his Bennetts Lightweight TT victory of last year as powered to victory by 12.472secs ahead of James Hillier with Martin Jessopp in third place.

Lintin made the early charge, leading into Glen Helen but then Hillier snapped back, taking over out front and hold the advantage until the dash over Snaefell on the second lap when Lintin regained the initiative, completing the lap at an average speed of 119.417mph to have the edge going into the pits by 1.443secs.

Lintin’s Devitt RC Express Kawasaki team provided a slick service, seeing him rejoin the race after a quick dash and splash in 38.7secs and that saw him extend his advantage to 8.294secs by the time he reached Glen Helen for the third time and he was able to dictate terms from the front, sealing the victory with a final lap at 119.417mph

“I was seeing reasonable boards and I knew that I was in the mix and it was between me and James. The pit stop was fine, they put in just enough fuel for me to win – they did a superb job, and they gave me the gap. Then I was able to maintain that but had to knuckle down on the final lap, grabbing hold of myself as I was making some little mistakes but we did enough and it was a nice ride in good conditions,” said Lintin, now a two-time TT winner.
