TT 2016: Sarolea unveil TT Zero colours

TT Zero challengers Sarolea have unveiled the bike Lee Johnston will campaign in this year’s one-lap electric sprint while Dean Harrison’s SP7 is being kept under wraps for later in the week.

The team competed at the Isle of Man TT Zero for the first time in 2014; just 0.4 seconds off the podium and an average speed of 93.507mph. 2015 followed with significant technical advancements, and a ride that resulted in a solid fifth with an average speed of 106.510 mph, a phenomenal 13mph improvement. 2016 will see Saroléa hit 120mph+ and is set to be the most exciting race to date in electric motor history.

Sarolea was the first Belgian motorcycle manufacturer, founded in 1850 and going strong as a global production for many decades until the factory closed down in the 1960s. In 2008 the rights to the manufacturer were bought by twin brothers Torsten and Bjorn Robbens, with the former having strong experience in motorsport including F1 and the Le Mans 24hr race, where he holds the record of being the youngest-ever winning team manager.

“Having multiple bikes on the 2016 TT grid, in combination with two of the best road racers in the world is another huge step forward in the Saroléa journey,” said Torsten.

“The Isle of Man TT Zero this year is set to be our most ambitious and exciting race to date. We are thrilled to have Johnston and Harrison on the team.

“The 2016 Saroléa SP7 bikes are the highest performance and most technically advanced bikes we have ever created, and we are ready for the race. We have developed our own technology to enable us to analyse the entire system required for optimal full electric propulsion.”
